February 07, 2010Ladies Div.2 - Match report - Loughborough Students V’s South Hants


After an interesting overnight stay in Leicester the team arrived in Loughborough for last of 4 weeks of back-to back weekend matches.

Having lost the toss the team decided to change ends (an unusually tactic employed by the team!). However the change did not unsettle the team and they got off to a convincing lead. Steady serving and consistent play from all allowed them to take the set easily 25-14 (with an amazing final hit from Louise landing inside the 3m line).

Without any changes to the line-up the girls were slightly lethargic going in to the second set and although they remained in control there were a few mistakes made allowing Loughborough to gain some momentum. After some steady hitting from Emma out at 4 South Hants took the second set 25-17.

With the thought of getting home early in their minds the team started the third set strongly. With some good chasing down and consistent plays the girls kept their focus and remained consistent throughout the set winning it convincingly 25-10.

The after match refreshments and hospitality were by far the best encountered at any away venue this season.
